Shy Skin uses plain and printed ADVANCED RECYCLED VITA XTRA LIFE LYCRA® fabric in our swimwear. This high quality fabric made in Italy is sustainable, with extra strength and maximum durability. The presence of LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™ fabric means it is more chlorine resistant that your average swimwear fabric. LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™ fiber is a trademark of The LYCRA Company.

The plain coloured ADVANCED RECYCLED VITA XTRA LIFE LYCRA® fabric is rated UPF 50+ by the manufacturer. The printed ADVANCED RECYCLED VITA XTRA LIFE LYCRA® fabric is sample tested for it's UPF rating. The rating will be noted in the product description. based on the fabric and design of the garment - e.g. a bikini top will not display a UPF rating due to its minimal skin coverage even if the fabric is rated UPF50+. ​Please note: The UPF rating applies only to the area of skin covered. Protection may be reduced if the material is wet, stretched or from the effects of normal wear or exposure to chemicals. For best sun protection use hats, clothing that provides maximum skin coverage, sunglasses, sunscreen and shade.

Cold hand wash or gentle machine wash with mild detergent. Do not soak. Do not bleach. Do not spin dry. Do not dry clean. Do not iron. Do not tumble dry. Line dry out of direct sunlight. Avoid any rough surfaces such as pool edges, dancefloors or rough ground in general. Do not pack or store when wet. Remove any excess water and dry without delay. Separate light colours from dark before washing. Avoid excess contact with suntan lotions and harsh chemicals sometimes found in saunas, spas & pools. Avoid excess contact with harsh chemicals such as deodorants, make-up or perfume. White and pastel colours, and light weight garments may appear transparent when wet. Although the best possible dyes are selected worldwide, the fastness of some shades must be treated with caution. Particular care should be taken with contrasting colours in the one garment.
